| Crysis 2 Interview | |

PC.IGN got a little face time with Crytek boss Cevat Yerli and EA's David DeMartini to discuss Crysis 2: Yerli explained that the very competitiveness of Crytek was at stake. He said that while Crysis was successful from a critical and commercial point of view, but it's breaking even to making some profit. "Going forward we need to be more profitable, and the only way to do that is logically to move our company toward the consoles," Yerli said. Crysis 2 is being built on the company's new CryEngine 3 technology, which it showcased at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco earlier this year. Yerli explained that the CryEngine 3 was a significant breakthrough for the company. He said that it's capable of scaling performance considerably, so he maintains that the PC version of Crysis 2 will look far better than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. At the same time, the console games will be as state-of-the-art as possible for those platforms. "We don't need to dumb down the game; the technology provides all the horsepower we need to make a kick-ass 360 game, a kick-ass PS3 game, and push the PC gaming forward still," Yerli said. |

| Crytek CEO on PC Gaming Piracy | |

Developmag interviewed Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli about a number of topics. One of which was piracy: Frankly, piracy is the reason why retail games are falling in popularity. Right now there is a mental shift in people about how they consume media, and if you think about the problems with piracy in light of this, inevitably you find that there needs to be a solution that requires people to look at PC gaming differently. The fact that I can illegally download a game right now, for free, faster than I can buy it, is truly an issue. There’s a whole chain of problems there, and a business model change is needed for this. Piracy has been a problem for years, but what we are seeing now is more and more people looking at buying and consuming media online. These people want to be served their content differently, and I think you have to cater to that. Planet Crysis. |

In addition to this we also have a new map release! Ruins is set in a church ruins environment where players are able to do combat both inside and outside the ruins. More information will be released in the future but for now we have four new screenshots available for you. Discus here |
